"The River" by Garth Brooks

What's your destination in life ?
My destination in life is to some day be in heaven with Jesus.

What is it you want to do with your life ?
I want to show people the way to God and hopefully it will help them get to heaven.

What must you do to reach your destination ?
In order to reach my destination, I must put beside me what others think and just focus on the end point and goal.

What might be some of the "rough waters" and how will you over come them ?
Some of the "rough waters" that I will encounter is wanting to follow the crowd, but I will have to remember in the end, its the best way to go. Another rough water I will probably face is the challenges Satin will put against me, but with God or Jesus, anything is possible.

"No Retreat, No Surrender" by Bruce Springsteen

What is an idea, a belief, or an ideal that you will not surrender ?
A belief that I would not surrender is being a Christian. This is because its the only thing that really matters in the end. I can not and will not surrender this belief because you can have fun while worshipping him, and sometimes God will just hit you with something that helps you and/or another person. You always have that feeling of comfort with Jesus and just to think that one day I will be perfectly happy and fulfilled. I believe in my God because he is the only "God" that hasn't died. Therefore, I will not surrender my right to honor and serve my lord.

"School Days" by Chuck Berry

How was school this year ?
School this year was more of a challenge, but I think it was good before high school next year. Also, this school year had its ups and downs, but over all it was good. Some of the ups were like being able to have more freedom and I really opened up and made a lot of new friend this year. There were some tough times along the way like all the gossip and finding out who people really are.

Explain one important thing you learned about yourself this year.
One thing important I learned about myself this year was that its okay to throw yourself out there and step out of my box because I think it really benefited me. This is because, I made a lot of new friends and it will help me later in life to know that its okay to stand out and let people know who you are.

The song I chose was Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhwROO2M6lw

In the song, Bruce talks about how he lived in a small town, where he got in a little trouble. He then got sent to Vietnam to fight. When he came back to the USA he wasn't able to get any benefits or work. He then goes on about a friend he had that died in the war and he had a little girl, who now has no father now. Bruce later says how he has nowhere to go, and its ten years later. In the chorus, he states he was born in the USA. This song represents society, because during the Vietnam War men were recruited. They were sent to fight in the war and many lost their lives. It was the first war the USA had not won. Normally, men were welcomed home from war, but this time they more then often ignored. Bruce wrote this song to address the problems of the Vietnam War, and how the Veterans were mistreated when they returned. The song was originally named "Vietnam," but was later inspired to change it to "Born in the USA." At the time, when the song was written, many people were in conflict over the war. People held huge protest for the USA to bring back the soldiers. This song relates to modern day society because we are in a war right now and many people are being recruited to fight, but this time by choice. A lot of people don't want this war right now and think it is pointless for us to fight. Every once in a while, people will protest to bring back our troops.
